What is chip tuning?
When chiptuning the software in the engine control unit gets optimized. Here are various parameters e.g. amount of fuel, ignition timing, charge pressure etc. optimized.
The result:
For engines with turbocharger is a performance increase between 15% and 25%, and a significantly greater torque the rule. This will enormously improve the acceleration and the passage. The fuel consumption under normal driving will be reduced!
Decrease fuel consumption despite increase in performance?
The slight shift of the torque is a driving course with lower speeds. By driving in these areas results in a reduction of fuel consumption.
Why does the vehicle manufacturer it not himself?
The manufacturer designed a vehicle for the global market. This has a number of parameters such as e.g. emission standards, differences in temperature, insurance classes etc.
Does a tuning shorten the life of the engine?
That comes to the modification of tuning. If no limits are exceeded, and the driving of the customer is "normal", no increased abrasion must be expected.
